HSEQ Advisor

The Role

The HSEQ Advisor will work individually, and as part of a team, to drive progression across the Osbit business. Day-to-day you will work closely with HSEQ team members to drive the following:

  • Supporting the Head of HSEQ in the delivery of HSEQ targets and KPI’s.
  • Ensuring robust and effective HSEQ management systems and techniques are implemented and aligned to business objectives, and delivering measurable improvements as required.
  • Ensuring the HSEQ systems and processes continue to satisfy the requirements of the regulations and legislations of the industry (including ISO 9001,14001 & 45001).
  • The continued implementation, development, improvement and day-to-day administration of the Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental Management System.
  • Driving standardisation and best practice across the organisation within policies, procedures and processes, with a continuous improvement ethos.
  • Supporting your colleagues and the business in relation to HSEQ matters.

There will be times when you may be required to undertake additional tasks, duties, training and responsibilities within your capabilities. The Company reserves the right to vary your tasks, duties and responsibilities at any time and from time to time according to its business needs.

Core Competences


  • Administrative and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach.
  • Level 3 HSEQ qualification.
  • Experience of working in manufacturing/engineering industries, or similar.
  • Experience of promoting and supporting a workforce on HSEQ matters.
  • Familiarity with management systems.
  • Comfortable to work within engineering workshop facilities, as well as in an office.
  • Ability to work well across diverse teams, but also independently.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Valid passport and eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Willingness to visit and work at other sites, as well as potentially working abroad on occasion.


  • 5 years’ experience in relevant roles.
  • Experience in an HSEQ role, within an offshore engineering company.
  • Familiarity with FPAL and Achilles accreditations.
  • Previous experience in conducting statistical analysis.

Osbit Engineer - Control

The Role
Successful applicants will join multi-disciplined engineering teams delivering projects from concept, through to commissioning. Day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Design of control system circuits.
  • Generating control system design specifications.
  • Developing PLC software, HMI/SCADA systems and software.
  • Simulating and testing PLC and HMI software.
  • Configuring and commissioning inverter software drives.
  • Electrical schematic checking and approval.
  • Calculations and architecture checks.
  • Functional safety studies.
  • Reviewing designs against DNV standards.
  • Selecting and procuring control system components.
  • Contributing to sales proposals.
  • Liaising with suppliers for expediting purposes.

Control engineers will be based at our head office in Northumberland (UK). Travel to our Port of Blyth assembly workshop and supplier facilities will be required. Occasionally, working overseas and/or offshore may also be requirements of the role.

Applicant Requirements

    • Experience in the design and commissioning of safety automation and control systems for equipment in marine and/or hazardous environments.
    • Understanding of PLC programming for both safety and process applications, including the application of Functional Safety principles.
    • Experience with DNV and SIL.
    • A degree-level qualification, or equivalent.
    • A valid UK driving licence.

Student Engineer

The Role
Each placement is unique, but you will be involved with many of the activities below. At all stages you’ll be supported through these activities by highly experienced Osbit Engineers.
•   Generating concept designs in Autodesk Inventor
•       Completing calculations and analysis
•       Draught components and fabrications
•       Develop designs of bought in components with suppliers
•       Managing procurement of components
•       Expediting deliveries and ensuring quality with suppliers
•       Create assembly drawings
•       Generate installation and testing documentation
•       Hands on equipment assembly

What we're looking for
We are looking for passionate, motivated and talented undergraduate students willing to be a key part of our project teams’ success. Our student placements require a positive, energetic attitude and the practical skill to own elements within a wide range of innovative and challenging engineering projects. Successful applicants will be empowered to work in all aspects of project delivery from concept design, analysis, procurement to assembly and commissioning.

At all stages, there will be opportunities for hands-on experiences that authentically make a difference to successful project delivery. Osbit’s previous placement students have found this experience rewarding and invaluable for developing their engineering capability.

Applicant requirements
Positive and flexible approach to problem solving.
o   Passion for developing and delivering innovative and bespoke engineering.
o   A desire to take ownership and deliver real solutions.
o   Undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Technology, Physics, Mathematics or similar degree.

Note: Osbit placements are minimum 6 months in duration and applicants should be in their final year of study.
